Swimming in Sweaters

It's that time of year again.  When we all go out and buy an overabundance of sweaters.  Yes, it's definitely autumn.  Sweaters come in so many different styles.  You can buy cashmere pull over sweaters, knit pullovers, sweatshirts, cardigans, etc.  Sweaters can make or break an outfit.  Don't get me wrong, I love sweaters but they can be a horrendous factor to an already ugly outfit.  So watch out, or else some of your sweaters might come back to bite you in the butt!

Cardigans are fabulous.  They can change the look of an outfit for the better or for the worse.  I am a fan of your classic long sleeve cardigan that hits anywhere from your waist to your butt.  Any longer or shorter just makes for a disaster.  One of the worst things that ever happened to the fashion world was the cropped cardigan.  Yes, your heard (or read) correctly.  Those short little cardigans that only hit just below your chest.  These will never really flatter anyone.  So, if you are about to go pull out your short little cardigan to make your tank top a bit warmer for fall... rip it out of your closet and throw it in the trash.

On the brighter side, longer cardigans are adorable.  They can dress your outfit up a bit if you are heading out to a more formal event.  They can also add to a relaxed chic style on a cozy afternoon's t-shirt and jeans.  Here are a few examples of some cardigan styles I love.

Pull over sweaters are truly a gift sent from heaven.  They are incredibly comfortable.  These sweaters are not only comfortable but fashionable as well.  There really isn't anything bad to say about these sweaters.  I could probably share thousands of my favorite pull over sweaters.  However, today I am going to choose just a few to share.

The fashion world doesn't get better than sweaters.  Tomorrow, I highly recommend going and getting yourself a warm and cozy sweater or two.  Happy fall and happy sweater wearing!

Trends 101

We have all looked at our parents' pictures and wondered what the heck they were thinking with some of those fashion choices.  To our dismay, someday our children will go through our pictures and make fun of our high waisted shorts and crop tops.  Trends are such a grey area.  What trends are okay to wear?

In my opinion, any trends that are revealing are probably not the best option.  Dressing like a classy woman will always be in style.  By wearing close to nothing, you are just setting yourself up to look dated and out of style.  Always stay covered up.  You won't look as dated in the long run and people will respect you.

Overkill on anything is never a good idea.  This rule doesn't change when it  comes to trends.  If all you ever wear is mint pants and a bubble necklace you are bound to look slightly un-creative and "clingy" in a way to a certain trend.  When you see someone who wears the same style everyday, you get kind of bored of looking at them and slightly irritated.  Please people, branch out with your style.  Don't wear the same style EVERYDAY!

If you walked into someone's house and the only color in there was bright red, it would probably be incredibly overwhelming and you would likely wonder what the heck was wrong with them.  You would wonder why the color red seemed so fabulous to them.  You would wonder why they chose to decorate their house with all red and chances are, you would try and get out of there as soon as possible.  Same concept with trends.  Someone who only owns trendy items is going to look desperate to fit in.  So desperate, that everything they wear is going to look the same.  To create a successful wardrobe it is essential to mix classic items with trendy pieces.  You want mostly classic items with a few fun trendy elements thrown in there!

Then there is the money issue.  Trends change every month and if you have to buy new clothes every month to be trendy, you won't have any money left.  That is another reason it is SO important to buy classy and trendy clothes, that way you won't have to "fix" your wardrobe every month.

If you are just torn between classic and trendy, why don't you try out some classics that are trendy.  Here are a few of my favorite pieces that are trendy in a classic sort of a way.

What are your favorite trends?  What trends are you just happily awaiting the day they go out of style?

A Fabulous Coat Makes a Fabulous Fall and Winter

The title couldn't be more truthful.  In the fall and winter months we all need a fabulous coat to make us happy.  Two or three probably wouldn't be a horrible idea either.  So, before you get too sad thinking about winter coming, look through these coats, and before you know it, you will be wishing it snowed tomorrow.

I don't know about you, but I would love to march down to the mall right now and buy one or five adorable coats!  Vest post to come!

Flats- Tackling One Fashion Dilemma at a Time

Ask anyone that knows me personally and they will tell you that saying I am obsessed with shoes is an understatement.  I could have all the shoes in North America and still need all of the shoes from the six other continents.  Since I can't post about all of my different shoes in one post, I'm going to take this time to illustrate my point about one of the most feminine styles out there.  I'm going to write about flats.  I am a firm believer that a cute pair of flats can make an old outfit feel and look brand new.  These are only an extremely small percentage of my favorite flats.

As I mentioned before, there is MUCH more where that came from!  More shoe posts to come!

Camo- A Trend I Never Thought I Would See

I have fond memories of one of my uncles that I absolutely adore wearing his camo pants.  Everywhere we went he was in his camo pants.  If you were really lucky you might catch him on a day with his camo pants and plaid shirt.  Never did I ever imagine during all of those years of teasing him, that camo would be the next trend.  So you never know when your uncle may very well be predicting the next top trends.

Camo is one of the popular new fashions for fall 2013.  Surprisingly I have fallen in LOVE with it!  It is a fresh new pattern that I don't think we have seen too much of in the past in the fashion world.  Camo everything is on my must have list for this fall.  My best friend is someone I absolutely worship when it comes to fashion.  When she told me about the camo trend I honestly wasn't too sure.  But now, I am in love with it!

I love camo pants from GAP.  J.Crew also offers fabulous styles.  Camo jackets with striped shirts, camo flats, camo vests, camo coats, and MUCH more.  When it comes to camo, the cutest styles I have seen so far at at J.Crew and GAP.  Here are just a few of my favorite ways camo is worn.

(I realize these pants aren't totally camo but I think they pretty close and the pattern/color mixing is perfect!)

I hope you love this camo trend as much as I do!  Happy camo wearing!

Saturday Madness

Saturday is the day of all crazy.  You have soccer games, errands, parties, cleaning your house, and almost every other thing seems to pop up here and there.  Here are a few ways to look stylish in the middle of all of the madness.

The Maxi Dress or Skirt:
Maxi dresses really are a fabulous go to option for all occasions.  However wearing a maxi dress everyday becomes less fabulous.  Growing latched onto one trend in particular is a horrible idea. Try out some different styles now and again.  But, when you absolutely must wear a maxi skirt or dress here are some stylish options to make your crazy day more functional.

The Cute Kind of Sweats:
Don't we all have those days where we are just dying to live in our sweats but we actually have to go places where people will see us?  Here are some of the most fabulous sweats I have ever stumbled upon.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today about how to look fabulous while doing some not so fabulous jobs. :)  Have an amazing weekend!

Cross Body Bags

Cross body bags are a hugely important part of your wardrobe.  They are perfect for a night out with friends, church, a dinner date, shopping, and much more.  So, you should probably jump up from your computer right now and rush to the nearest mall to buy one of these fabulous bags.

Kate Spade:
You really can't go wrong with Kate Spade especially when it comes to cross body bags.  Here are just a few examples of my favorite patterns and styles.  A purse is a perfect way to add one more element of color and pattern to an outfit.  Kate Spade's designs are usually bright and happy which make them a perfect option for a cross body bag to add interest to your outfit.

Wherever you are going and whatever you are doing, a cross body bag is a perfect way to enjoy a hands free activity while still feeling in style.
